If you are looking to hire a car in Spain with a debit card, we can help!
Whilst credit card payment is the norm, we work with a number of Spanish car rental companies that do also accept major debits cards (e.g. Visa Debit and MasterCard Debit).
Choose your hire location and dates in the quote request form below and we'll show you a quote for the companies that accept debit cards. You can then go ahead to book online, easily and securely. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
Payment is made 100% on pick-up, direct to the car hire company. Should you need to cancel your booking, this is always completely free of charge, right up to the day that the hire is due to start.
First of all, it's important to note that not all debit cards are accepted. Whilst Visa and MasterCard Debit cards are fine, other cards such as Maestro and Visa Electron sometimes are not. Not all of our suppliers will accept Maestro and Visa Electron, so if you intend to use one of these cards it's important to check with us before booking.
Those companies that do accept debit cards oblige clients to either book at their full insurance inclusive rate (e.g. Drivalia and Goldcar) or to contract the full insurance on collection of the vehicle. Though the price of the car rental is obviously higher, having the full insurance does afford excellent peace of mind as the collision damage excess (a deposit of around 1000 - 1500€) is waived and damage to tyres, glass, mirrors, undercarriage etc. is also covered. Indeed, many clients who have credit cards choose to take out the full insurance rather than leave a hefty excess deposit.
